The girls constructed some marvelous homes last weekend. After 5 years, they're getting pretty good at it. I hope they don't notice that a few of their "decorations" are now missing.

What's going on here?

Time for one last picture challenge of 2007. Any guesses? I'll post the answer tomorrow as a comment...

We had a little excitement in HR on Wednesday afternoon. A small bear started prowling around the suburbs. The Department of Wildlife was called in and they kept an eye on the open space area where the bear finally ended up. This was about a mile or so from our house. Bear Sighting Stops Traffic, Locks Down Schools Well, Thursday morning rolled around and I had planned on getting up early and going on a trail run in the backcountry behind our house. In a later post, I'll talk about the trail race I'm going to be training for this summer. Anyway, I checked the local news websites to see if our bear friend had been caught yet. He/She was still on the loose. I decided to venture out anyway as the sun was about 20 minutes from rising. I got on the trail and made sure to keep on the alert. As I approached a ridge with lots of trees/brush, I heard some loud rustling and saw some brown movement in my peripheral vision. I couldn't see well through the brush so I ran a litt...

Limping across the finish line...

Well, I made it. Woke up at 4am, ate a Balance bar with my 4 Advil while icing my knee a bit. Sipped on some coffee as I made my way downtown in the dark. When I got to City Park, the night came alive. There were people everywhere and a DJ blasting 'pump you up' music. The lines for the port-a-potties were a mile long with nervous runners trying to empty their tanks before the start. After the Star Spangled Banner was played, they shouted the countdown. Everyone cheered and started moving towards the starting line. I was probably the 1000th person in line, so it took me a minute or so to get there. It was a very cool feeling crossing the starting line, but that was quickly squashed when I realize just how crowded the road was. Everyone was jockeying for position and no one could really get any type of pace going.
