Eastern Point Lighthouse

Eastern Point Lighthouse
The next stop as we made our way up the coast was the Eastern Point Lighthouse. This lighthouse sits at the entrance to Gloucester Harbor. We walked the entire length of the breakwater (almost a half mile one way) and on the return trip, counted how many slabs of granite we stepped on. Can you guess how many? The answer is above if you start with the number Zoe is holding up.

Ahhhh...Gloucester. I love this town. If you ever saw the movie "The Perfect Storm", you would know it's a little rough around the edges. But having the distinction of being "America's Oldest Seaport" makes it so unique.

Without a doubt, my favorite event in Gloucester is the celebration known as St. Peter's Fiesta. The highlight of Fiesta is something called the Greasy Pole competition. Oh man, you haven't lived until you've witnessed the Greasy Pole. Only in Gloucester...only in Gloucester.

You must take 7 minutes and check this out: Greasy Pole "Documentary"
