Directly behind the Lake Irwin campground are three amazing peaks that were just begging to be climbed. Ruby Peak (top left), Mt. Owen (bottom left), and Purple Peak (top right) are at the beginning of the Ruby Range just to the north of Kebler Pass. I hit up Ruby & Owen on Saturday and then went back for more punishment on Sunday by climbing Owen & Purple.
There wasn't as much running as I'd hoped as the terrain just didn't allow for it. That didn't take away from the fun I had. It was good high altitude prep for the Run Rabbit Run trail race in Steamboat next Saturday. This is my final 50 miler of the year. I can't wait to spend 9-10 hours soaking in the fiery gold aspens that are starting to light up the Rockies!
