Autumn in the Rockies

Autumn in the Rockies
After our picnic at Echo Lake on Saturday, we decided to drive up the Mt. Evans Road. It was free and Nana gave the idea two thumbs up. Not far into the drive, the views turned spectacular. The big negative of the Mt. Evans Road is the "death defying" drop offs that Nana eluded to in her comment on Monday. My good friend Brian also experienced and wasn't too fond of those drop off when he came to visit back in August.

I loved every minute of the drive...even though it continued to snow off and on. It was the first time I had been back since the Mt. Evans Ascent in June. It was quite a different experience getting to drive up it this time! About halfway up, I started getting that excited feeling in my stomach...thinking about running the the Mt. Evans Ascent again next year. Hopefully that was just my roast beef sandwich talking!

  2. It was absolutely beautiful - Woody you handled the road perfectly - especially the part where the road was breaking away. To think that you ran all the way up that road is awesome.

  3. Do some of the roads cost money?

  4. Martha, if you want to drive to the top of Mt Evans, they do charge. The only other road in the mountains (that I can think of) where you have to pay is the one to the top of Pikes Peak.
