Thanks to Martha, Megan is the proud owner of the book "Little House on the Prairie". We've been reading this story before bedtime for the last week or so.
Yesterday, Tanya touched on one of my favorite things about the location of our new house. It is very close to the Highlands Ranch Backcountry. This area comprises thousands of acres of open space. It's very "prairie-like" with rolling hills, ponderosa pine trees & lots of grasses. The backcountry has a lot of trails and it's frequented by mountain bikers and runners! I have loved going for my runs up there because within minutes I leave the suburbs and rise above the entire metro area with Front Range views from Pikes Peak to Longs Peak (two 14ers I'm itching to climb).
There's also lots of wildlife back there. Deer, Elk, Fox, Cows...and Buffalo! This herd of buffalo lives in the backcountry and although I'm not sure what their story is...I find it funny that we live in the suburbs, yet have a herd of roaming buffalo a few minutes away.
After my run up there early Monday morning (when this picture was taken), I drove the girls up there to see the big beasts. Click on the picture or "Previous" to see if they had fun.
Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam
ReplyDeleteWhere Megan and Zoe can play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day.
Home home on the range
Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam
Where W&T can run & cars don't get in the way
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day.
Does my heart good!
