Tilapa-what??

Tilapa-what??
Can you believe that we got both our girls to eat fish the other night?

Many of you have followed us on our journey of dealing with two very picky eaters. We've turned the corner in many respects, but there's no way I thought we could get them to eat fish.

How did we do it?

Simply...by not telling them it was fish. For dinner that night we had Tilapia. I had never heard of it before, but Tanya bought this plain, white fish at the store and cooked it up with some seasoned bread crumbs.

When they asked us what it was, we just told them "Tilapia". If they pressed further, we held to our line and said its just "Tilapia". Well, after a while they liked saying the name and that led to eating it up! If we ever slipped and referred to it as fish...I quite sure that would have been the end of it.

  2. Yes, the kids book we have that renames vegetables with "cool" names is creative,...but didn't work to encourage consumption!
