Two weekends ago, I got to fly back to Boston and visit my alma mater. There was a special occasion for this trip. My good friend and teammate, Jim Petty, was being inducted along with five other athletes into the Gordon College Hall of Honor.
On Friday night, we were invited over to Steve Heintz’s house to reconnect and reminisce along with our old assistant coach, Marc Whitehouse. Steve was our head coach and is also a friend and mentor. He coached me for three years and was instrumental in my decision to go to Gordon. He’s an amazing man who helped guide & shape me during a very transformational time.
We sat around for what seemed like hours laughing and enjoying the flood of memories that seemed to come pouring forth. We even watched some old game tape of us running around in our “way too short” shorts.
I came away from the weekend reminded of just how lucky I was to experience college with such cool people!
I think its great you and Tanya have these extended friends to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteOh My! I don't even know how I happened to get on your blog but I am glad I found it. I can't believe I see you 3 in this photo. Makes me miss Rhodes Gym and practice with you guys and coach Heintz. Them was the good old days.
ReplyDeleteHey, I want to see some of that old game footage. You got any from 1994-95 or 95-96 season?
email me sometime - kevinleffew@gmail.com and pass it along to Jimmy and Coach. Miss all the old Fighting Scots.
And please, short shorts go well in New England and a bunch of pasty white boys who have been in the gym all winter.
Hey Kevin! So good to hear from you. I'll shoot you an email soon!
