Last Friday night, the Rhodes called and invited us to the Littleton Christmas celebration that night. After a quick dinner with the Sullivan's, we all ventured to downtown Littleton for the tree lighting and the arrival of Santa Claus. I think everyone would agree that it felt like taking a step into a Norman Rockwell painting.
There were people everywhere holding lit candles, small groups of people playing carols on their instruments and lots of holiday cheer. The trees you see in the picture were not lit when we arrived. As Santa finally made his way down Main Street, they would light the trees one block at a time. When they'd flip the switch for each block, the crowd would cheer. After he passed, everyone joined in a parade with their candles and followed Santa to the lighting of the big Christmas tree at the end.
When Santa finally made it to our block, his arrival was met with great excitement from our girls. With Megan on my shoulders, she would not stop waving at Santa. I tried to turn and have my picture taken with her, but she wouldn't take her eyes off him.
We finished our outing with cups of cider and hot chocolate.
Those trees are AWESOME!!
