The Red Hot 55k

The Red Hot 55k
This race has so many different and unique elements to it. The slickrock running between miles 20-27 are the most loved and hated. This picture is from the easiest section. All the others find you going straight up/down, or running along slanted, pot-holed rock. As there is no defined trail to follow, route finding is a major challenge. You are constantly on the lookout for small pink ribbons that could be tied to rocks, sticks, branches, or cairns. Thankfully, I ran most of the second half with Joe (second in front). We both caught one other going off course several times and gave a shout out to get the other back on track.

If interested, you can read more about the race on my CO-Runner site.
