Pinwheels

Pinwheels
Last week we were sitting around the dinner table and Megan passed out "Table Talker" question cards. One question posed was, "If you were in charge of the family grocery list, what is one thing you would put on it that you normally don't buy?" Immediately I burst out with, "Pinwheels!" The thought of those chocolatey delights hadn't entered my mind for years. The girls had never heard of them before. Well, I started to describe the cookies and immediately we were ushered into the world of Charlie Bucket, who would sit and dream about how wonderful a Willy Wonka "Whipple Scrumptious Fudgemallow Delight" would taste. We just finished reading "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory a few weeks ago.

After we all wiped the drool from our chins, we finished dinner, got in the car, and drove to the grocery store to pickup a package of Pinwheels. The girls really got into it and cradled the cookies in their arms as if they were carrying fine china.

When we got home, we each took out one...and only one...and slowly ate it...savoring each "Charlie Bucket" bite.

These cookies aren't cheap. For a package of 12, you're looking at over $5. But as a delectible and rare treat...there's nothing better!
