2011 has ushered in a change for me. Glasses. I had been noticing some fuzzies when looking at my computer screens, so I paid my first visit to the eye doctor in six years. He confirmed that a slight prescription was needed, so I now have to wear them on occasion. Not the end of the world, but also not a welcome change...despite the fact that they really help.

On a different note, I can't say that I have ever spent so much time in Claire's before. In fact, I had only been in one once before and I remember that those few minutes were an eternity. I'm confident I'd have a nervous breakdown if I worked there. There's just so much girly stuff! I'm quite sure the golden rule of Claire's is that no open space in the store will be tolerated. I was going to say that every single nook and cranny was packed with trinkets galore, but then I see a little bit of white space on the column off my right shoulder. Somebody's slacking over there!

I know being a dad of girls has relegated me to such places, but I guess I didn't realize the magnitude of my lot in life until I had to mull around for 20 minutes. Wow. The energy present from the 75 females filtering through during that time could rival the output of a small nuclear power plant.

  2. You may need to give Mike a pep-talk in a few years. He cringes whenever we walk by Claire's or any store like it. The new glasses suit you well. It's a small price to pay!
