We stayed at the Steamboat Campground in a tiny cabin. The campground is about 2 miles north of town and sits on the Yampa river. Being a private campground, it had many more amenities than we were used to. A playground, swimming pool, mini-golf, on-site general store, many grass fields, and perfect flat roads through the entire place for little girls who like to cruise on their bikes. Seriously, this place is a steal for lodging in Steamboat.
Our cabin had one small room on the main floor and a ladder to a loft where the beds were. Coming from a popup, it was nice to have a warm place to sleep. The setup was perfect until I ventured up to bed after the race. Let's just say, climbing a ladder was not the ideal setup. I almost decided to sleep on the floor. To make matters worse, I woke up in the middle of the night and REALLY had to go to the bathroom. You guessed it, back down and then up the ladder I went....with lots of moans and grunts that no doubt woke up a few campground guests.
I took this picture with my phone and the colors got all saturated. It was really pretty there, but not quite that "blue".
