There are some great moments in the life of a parent...like when your precious baby sleeps through the night, or graduates from diapers. We've been able to celebrate one of those such moments this week. Zoe learned to ride her bike without training wheels! Gone are the days of the awful clatter those wheels made on the pavement around our neighborhood. Now she might actually be able to hear me when I call to her on her bike.
Woody's spent some time this summer teaching her, but she didn't seem to muster up the balance and confidence needed for him to actually let go of the bike. I decided to take her the other night and practice some more. To my surprise, Zoe rode well enough for me to let her go. It was such a great moment. She had a look of pure excitement on her face, and kept squealing for joy. Although Woody actually put all the hard work into teaching her the skills, I got to be the one to experience the fruit of his labor.
Since then, we've gone back to the parking lot every night this week. She loves it and is almost ready to brave the sidewalk. Way to go Z-Bop!
I'm impressed by the hand brakes on their bikes. That's awesome! Great job Zoe! We are all proud of you and excited for your accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteZoe's bike has foot breaks too, so hasn't learned the hand breaks yet.
ReplyDeleteshe has the expression of concenration. She is very proud of herself - the oher day the training wheels were laying on he gaage floor she kicked them and said "i don't need those anymore".
