Growing up spending many a weekends on a lake in NH, my folks always offered us kids a prize (the Polar Bear prize) if we'd submerge ourselves in the ice cold water on Memorial Day weekend. It was a challenge that we always looked forward to.
Since moving to CO, our camping trips in the mountains have given me plenty of opportunity to present the same challenge to Megan & Zoe even in the middle of the summer! I don't know what the temperature of Turquoise Lake was, but brrrrrrrrrrrr, it was COLD.
All the kids were enticed last weekend with a "polar bear prize" of ice cream in Leadville if they took the plunge. Tanya & I did too, but that was more because we were in serious need of a shower at a campground that had none.
Guess I'm more into the sun bear prize with warm water.
