We spent almost the entire day of the 4th in the town of Grand Lake. We arrived around 12pm and found a prime fireworks viewing spot in a park across from the lake. We claimed our turf and then spent the day playing at the playground, swimming in the ice cold lake, and eating ice cream. There was a DJ spinning up all sorts of fun music at the park that helped create a celebratory atmosphere and build the anticipation for the fireworks. It sure made the 10 hour wait pass by quickly.
The fireworks show did not disappoint. They setup several barges out in the lake, so we were sitting directly under the spectacular show. My neck was tilted as far back as it would go and was aching by the end. The girls were tired, but loved it. Rocky (yes, Rocky was there too) wasn't quite so sure what was going on at first, but then settled down and slept with one eye open.
sounds like a perfect 4th.
