Bridal Veil Falls

Bridal Veil Falls
Based on a tip from a lady at an information booth, we attempted to find our way to Bridal Veil Falls. Just to the west of town, you come across a rugged 4X4 road that leads you up to the falls. At first we thought our truck would have no problem, but it became apparent that the higher we got, the more the road deteriorated.

Zoe started complaining that her tummy hurt and we were all feeling a little zapped from the bouncing around.

With a half mile to go, we bottomed out on a rock. No big deal right? About a 100 feet later, a guy passing me in a Jeep waved his hand out the window flagging me to stop. He said, "Hey man, my buddy just radioed me and said that rock you hit back there is covered in oil. You should probably pull over and check it out." Great. Just what we wanted to hear.

Thankfully, that oil must have been from someone else's car since ours was leak-free! Needless to say, that false alarm freaked us out and caused us to leave the truck on the side of the road and continue the rest by foot.

Bridal Veil is actually a two pronged waterfall. The one that is featured in most pictures wasn't really flowing that much, but the other one looked cool. The house that sits atop the falls is actually a power plant. We played around the falls for a half hour or so before heading back down.

The ride down was bumpy and uneventful. I can tell you that I couldn't stop staring at my dashboard waiting for some "Check Engine" light to come on!
