Chapman Campground

Chapman Campground
During our first morning at Chapman, I flagged down the campground hosts while they cruised our loop in their golf cart. They were a pleasant, retired couple who loved to chat it up with the guests. I asked them for a recommendation on where to take the kids so they could play around in the water. We also wanted to use the kayaks the Craig's brought.

Well, they hooked us up with a sweet lake that was well off the beaten path. It was just two miles down the road from the campground...and then five miles up a windy, dirt road. When you got to the end of the forest road, it opened up to a large meadow with two lakes. We parked in front of the bigger one and had the most relaxing afternoon I can remember in quite some time. We setup our canopy & chairs, had a picnic lunch, hiked around the lake, took turns paddling around in the kayaks...and the hours slipped away.

I have no idea if the lakes have names, but that meadow was one of those special places that you find yourself always wanting to return to. Hopefully we'll be able to find it again the next time we're there.
