Full Moon Jog

Full Moon Jog
This past Saturday night was special. In the sky that night was a "perigee moon". This huge full moon lit up the night. Spontaneously, I got an email from James saying we ought to go for a "full moon" run. James is training for the San Diego Marathon in May. His idea was awesome.

He came over at 9:30pm and off we went into the backcountry. We hit up some nice trails and marveled at the views of the mountains and city. It was cold, but as you can see, we were dressed well and didn't feel it. In marathon training, you're supposed to do your longer runs at "conversational" pace. We did just that and 7.5 miles were completed quite easily.

  1. all dressed in dark clothing - I'm guessing those two white faces runnng through the nigh gave a few of our wildlife critters a scare. We chose to sail to anacapa island and spend the night - worse I have ever experienced - Santa Ana winds came up around midnight along with he high tide and waves about 2 feet apart hitting the side of the boat every 30 seconds its like spending the night in a front loading washing machine - I had sea legs for 12 hours after getting off that boat. yuck! Gave rock and roll a whole new meaning.

  2. Do you wear special grippy shoes for winter running? I would be so afraid of hitting ice. I can barely stay upright in daylight!
