Mt. Bierstadt

Mt. Bierstadt
At 9:15am on Saturday, the six dads you see in the picture all reached the summit of Mt Bierstadt! For several months now, we all have been planning on celebrating Father's Day weekend by tackling this 14,060 foot monster. For Scott, Matt, Shannon & Nick...it was their first 14er!

Our morning started with meeting in a parking lot at 4am. Fortunately, Mt. Bierstadt is pretty close to Denver, so we were on the trail at 5:50. Slow & steady was the name of our game. Plenty of rest breaks to allow us to take in the rising sun as it cast on the mountains behind us.

Saturday was a weird weather day. Not a single cloud formed all day. This is very atypical...especially for the mountains. Not that I'm complaining...it was perfect. Great guys...great conversation...great exercise...and GREAT cold pizza & wild cherry Pepsi once we returned to the car!

  1. Congrats! That was my first 14er - sort of! I made it 100ft from the top and just couldn't make it. Glad you all had a good time!
