Last summer we tried to plan an outing with the Rhodes to a CO Rapids game, but the summer slipped by with busy schedules and we couldn't pull it off. Well, we finally made it happen on Saturday night.
We ventured (kidless) up to the new Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City to see the Rapids. This new "soccer only" stadium is impressive. It seats over 18,000 people, but every seat feels quite close to the field.
The Rapids also changed their logo and uniform colors this season. But probably the best change they made was doing away with the World's Worst Mascot....Rapidman!
The Rapids lost to the Houston Dynamo. That was a bummer, but the cold rain that began 20 minutes into the game was an even bigger one. Fortunately, we scooted up about twenty rows, found a bunch of seats under the overhang, bought some hot chocolate w/ whipped cream and enjoyed the rest of the game.
Sorry about the crummy picture, but all I had was my phone to catch a shot.
Man Woody, you have the worst luck with weather and sporting events!
