Retreating from the Retreat

Retreating from the Retreat
This weekend was our annual church retreat. I took off work early, hustled home to pack up, and we caravaned up to Estes Park with the Rhodes & Craigs (with whom we shared a cabin along with the Mitskevich's). The extra sense of urgency to get up there quick was due to the fact that Tanya & I were on for childcare duties during the first meeting that night. We got there just in the nick of time.

Following the service, we all lugged a weeks worth of gear into our cabin. After settling down the kids for the night, we all hung out and talked until we decided to go to bed around 11pm.

Then the fun began.

Megan awoke around 3am and proceeded to throw up on her sleeping bag and then again in the bathroom. She was also having problems with her other end. In all the commotion of cleaning up, Zoe woke up ready to start her day. Have I mentioned yet just how bad our room smelled? Both girls (and Tanya & I by default) remained awake until about 5:30...at which time Megan crashed...Zoe followed suit at 6am.

When we all awoke again at 7:40, we decided it would be in our best interest to head home. There was no sense in passing Megan's illness on to the other kids in the cabin and we didn't feel okay about putting her in childcare. Feeling dejected, we packed up the car and departed.

On a more pleasant note...as you watch the Broncos-Ravens football game tonight, look for me high up behind one of the endzones. I'm going to the game with my boss and they are forecasting snow at gametime! This will be a drastic change from the two other warm & sunny NFL games I've been to.

  1. I'm sorry Megan got sick! I hope she's feeling better now. Anna had the stomach flu once and it was sure no fun!!!!

  2. GahhhH! Poor Megan.

On a more taunting note: As far as that Bronco game, you better hope those horsies win, the Bolts are gonna be hard to catch!!! I'll look for you holding the sign that say "I used to be a Charger fan!"
