Just the beginning....

Just the beginning....
Tanya was away this weekend at her 10-year college reunion, so I got the privilege of hanging with the girls for three days. Each day this week, you're going to catch a glimpse into our long weekend of activities. We had a lot of fun together and this seems like a good avenue to document those times so I don't forget them.

As many of you know, Tanya is quite crafty...in the 'Michael's' kind of way. She's had both girls doing all kinds of crafts lately and Megan is following in her creative footsteps. When it was time for Dad to take over, I surely didn't want to drop the ball. I work right next to a Hobby Lobby, so during my lunch break last Thursday, I made a visit and $20 later was walking out with a bag full of goodies.

My first craft was a slam dunk as I thought the Dora t-shirts idea would be a hit. They were. Although, I'd have to say that I had second thoughts once I got home and realized it probably wasn't the best activity for a one & three year old. After picking out which color t-shirt they wanted...who would get which decals...and where on the t-shirt those decals would be, the 'craft' activity began and turned into a 'Dad' activity. Cutting out the decals and ironing them on the t-shirts...was all me. Megan & Zoe were quite willing to help, but with scissors and a scalding iron being the only tools, I diverted them to other distractions.

Well after an hour and fifteen minutes...many snacks...and a full 60 minute episode of Sesame Street...the craft was finished! My hard work payed off as the girls loved their new shirts and wore them all day Friday and Saturday!

  1. Way to go! I think you are a natural. 9news has a craft segment sometimes in the afternoon, I bet their website would be a good resource too.
