Labor Day Camping Trip

Labor Day Camping Trip
Just spent the weekend up at Lake Granby at a sweet campground. We had an awesome walk-in site on the lake that was spacious, private and had tons of rocks for climbing. The weather shaped up to be quite nice. Well...during the day it was nice. The temperature on Saturday night dropped to 28 degrees. Fortunately, we had just bought Megan a new sleeping bag (rated to 15 degrees) and Zoe shacked up with Tanya in her bag. Sunday night was much warmer. It was 30 degrees.

I think I've said before that we set our expectations pretty low when camping with the girls. We try to enjoy the few moments when we're not responding to their needs, picking them up off the ground after falls and breaking up little squabbles over absolutely trivial things. This trip in particular left us scratching our heads as to why we bother camping with young kids. Both girls were masters at pushing our buttons at just the right time.

Forgetting the stress and remembering the fun...we climbed rocks, had a picnic and ate ice cream in Grand Lake Village, hiked by the lake, explored the river (more on that tomorrow), feared for our lives while some wild animal ate our package of Oreos the first night, ate lots of marshmallows...cooked and toasted, and had many fun adventures in and around our campsite.
