Boston is such an awesome city. During our trolley tour, the driver must have referred to the 1600's and 1700's over 40 times as he pointed out the different sites. The brick buildings, cobblestone roads, old cemeteries give you such an appreciation for the historical significance present there. At one point, the driver pointed out gas lamps that lined the streets around Beacon Hill. They are original from the 1800's. If you looked closely, they were lit...that's right...lit. I had never noticed that before. The gas lamps remain lit 24 hours a day since it would be too costly for the city to re-light them every evening. Very cool. I found a picture of them on the web, so if you click on 'Previous', you can see one of the lamps.

We did lunch at Faneuil Hall, toured the USS Constitution (Ole Ironsides is the oldest, still commissioned ship in the US Navy...over 200 years!), and walked around the North End & Paul Revere's house. The day before we walked over to Fenway Park and had lunch while watching all the action pick up before the Sox-Tigers game that night. No, we didn't go to the game.

Another highlight was visiting Brian & Dawn Davenport. They just picked up and moved to Boston from Santa Barbara. They found an apartment in South Boston...just a few minutes away from Fenway! It was so fun to see their apartment and realize the exciting weeks and months they have ahead of them exploring all the amazing things Boston and New England has to offer.
