Stop, Drop and Evacuate!

Stop, Drop and Evacuate!
One thing I've learned is that you can have the most organized plans, but sometimes they just don't work out the way you hope.

Wes & I woke up this morning at 5:30am ready for adventure. Unfortunately, the weather scared us off and we decide to bail on our hike. It was very overcast, and all the weather reports indicated a wet and stormy day in the mountains. That didn't sound too appealing to us...although dodging lightning bolts as we hiked above treeline would have added a fun challenge.

Instead, we joined the rest of the family on a trip to the aquarium. All went well until the fire alarm went off and they forced everyone out. Fortunately, we were one exhibit from the end, so it wasn't that big of a loss. The troops were also getting restless from hunger, so the timing was actually pretty good. We enjoyed a picnic lunch outside with a water park and downtown Denver as our backdrop.

We had the Bubiers over for a fajita dinner feast and a mini-celebration for their new baby arriving via c-section a week from Wednesday! It was fun to have everyone together. Tomorrow is going to involve taking in many of the 4th festivities that HR has to offer. We also may climb a '6er' as Scott coined it. Yes, we may take Wes & Anne to the top of Highlands Point. A whopping 15 minute hike with a 200 foot elevation gain to somewhere around 6300 feet...but spectacular views.

  1. That waterpark is rated 6 in the US (According to the Travel Channel)! Numbers 3 and 5 are in California and I've been to them both, but am looking forward to going to the Denver one in a few years.
