Perfect Day

Perfect Day
If you asked 10 people to describe their 'perfect' day, I'm sure you'd get 10 different answers. If you ask this question to both Tanya & I, I think you'd get the same answer: Saturday.

We got the privilege of going on an overnighter to Estes Park without the kids. Nana has been visiting and offered to watch the girls so we could get away. Thank you Nana!! Oh man, what a treat it was. We...

- ate a scrumptious dinner and walked the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder
- stayed at a lakeshore lodge right next to Lake Estes
- woke up to perfect weather
- ate a lumberjack breakfast overlooking the lake
- hiked to Alberta Falls and Loch Lake in the RMNP
- enjoyed an hour long rest and lunch at Loch lake and had it all to ourselves
- devoured ice cream cones in downtown Estes Park sitting by the river that runs through town

The hike was ideal. We haven't gone on a hike together without the kids in years and we forgot just how much we both enjoy spending time like that together. Uninterrupted conversation was one of the things that stood out the most. The hike was pretty challenging, as I think 40 percent of the trail was covered by mini-glaciers. I've come up with a new definition for the word exhilaration: hiking on hard packed snow, taking a step and having your bare leg plung 2-3 feet down into the snow. We had many a laughs at each other when it would happen.
