Crash & Brrrrr

Crash & Brrrrr
Waking up to -11 degree temps on Saturday morning didn't stop us from heading up into the mountains with the Craigs for an overnighter at Jesse's aunt & uncle's cabin in Nederland. It was beautiful up there...right in the middle of the forest. A few frozen septic system problems didn't stop us from having a great time either. We ate good food, watched the kids play together, took in a few games of Catch Phrase & Apples to Apples, and hit the slopes...the sledding slopes.

On Saturday, Jesse & I took Megan & David on a car ride to find the ultimate sledding hill. 20 minutes later we found a nice one. Megan & David had a couple of successful runs and then we sent them for one final run. At the top I started them a little off course and sure enough...they clipped a sizeable rock that didn't budge. Megan was catapulted off the sled and David lost his gloves and got his hands covered with snow. A few tears were shed, but everyone was just fine.

On Sunday morning, we all went for a walk only to find the perfect sledding hill just around the corner from the cabin. This snow covered dirt road had deep grooves to keep the sled in track. We all took turns and had a blast. The last run featured Megan in front, David in the middle & yours truly in the rear. The run started well, but almost at the end, we plowed through a pile of powder. The cloud of white flakes engulfed our sled and coated everyone's face with a thick layer of snow. That of course didn't go over well with the passenger in the front. So once again, our sledding outing ended in tears.
