Downtown Aquarium

Downtown Aquarium
On Tuesday, we hit the Downtown Aquarium with the McLean clan. Tanya has been there several times, but this was my first! All I can say is that place is Awesome! It is the coolest aquarium I've ever been to. The exhibits are well done, with most of them featuring glass from the floor up...which is perfect for the little ones in strollers. Zoe and Spencer loved it. So what was my favorite exhibit?? The Bengal Tiger! Yup, they've got a real tiger at the aquarium...strange, but very cool. It's enclosure features a tall waterfall and large pond containing all kinds of 'rain forest' type fish. The pond, which apparently the tiger often swims in, also had glass walls so you could see all the fish swimming below the surface. I was bummed the tiger didn't want to take a dip while we were there.

We ate lunch in the aquarium's restaurant, which featured a 200,000 gallon tank as a backdrop. Halfway through lunch, a scuba diver entered the tank and created a fish frenzy. Below, Zoe's checking out that tank just before lunch. In the other picture, don't you love Megan crouching behind Tanya using her as a barrier between her and the moray eel?

On a different note, today is Megan's 1st day of Preschool! I'm so excited and nervous for her. I know she is going to thrive and love it, but it's just that I remember that moment in Cottage Hospital on Dec. 30, 2002. I was holding a newborn Megan in my arms and thinking how small and dependent she is on us. How it felt so good to hold her and care for her. And now she's going to school and will be out of our grip a whopping 1 day (2.5 hours) a week. I know it has only just begun and the reality is that each year that goes by our grip will be getting looser and looser.

  1. This is BIG for you! While your heart feels a little pain at the moment, just wait 'til she comes home from school... all smiles, papers in hand, and tells you what a wonderful day she had. You'll say a quiet "thank you" to the Lord for all He's done to bring Megan to this point... and the pain gives way to great joy.
