We just returned yesterday from a two night backpacking trip to the Crater Lakes with Scott and Kelsey. Last summer, we took just Megan and Kelsey on our inaugural dad/daughter one night outing and decided to add Zoe and an extra night this year. What an amazing time!
You'll see what I mean throughout the week. Our weekend included everything I love about being a dad...and everything I love about living in Colorado.
This year we rented kid backpacks from REI (great deal by the way). The girls got to carry their sleeping bags, water bottles, and clothes. The packs were heavy enough and they still managed to knock out a three mile hike to the lakes with 1400' of climbing to just under 11,000'.
Zoe quickly was given the nickname (which she embraced) of "Energizer Bunny", or "EB" for short. From the get go, she led the charge and I found myself shouting, "Zoe, wait up for us" too many times to count.
these are precious memories the girls and woody will carry forever.
