Summer kick-off weekend??

Isn't Memorial Day weekend supposed to be the "unofficial" start to summer?


On Saturday afternoon, we decided to venture out on a hike to Alberta Falls. The hike is about 2 miles roundtrip. We weren't quite sure what we were getting ourselves into with strong winds, cool temps and snow! Fortunately, a few minutes after this picture was taken, the snow & winds subsided and it was actually quite pleasant hiking weather.


We felt quite confident that the three young girls could handle a 2 mile hike. What we didn't realize until we started was that two thirds of the trail was under snow! The snowy trail had been packed down by hikers, but was still quite slippery. Click on the picture or "previous" to see if we made it.
