Happy Birthday Zoe!

Happy Birthday Zoe!
Our little munchkin is three today! We now get to say goodbye to the terrible twos and hello to the.....terrible threes! We're not quite over that hurdle where the unreasonable and irrational tantrums that come at the most infrequent times...disappear. Soon enough...soon enough.

With all that said, how could you not utterly love this quirky little girl! Do you want to know one of her quirks?

She will not let me kiss her on the cheek or anywhere on her head with my lips. If I do, she immediately takes her hand and strokes the spot I laid the kiss several times while telling me, "I'm going to wipe your kiss OFF!" This has gone on for months and always bums me out a bit. Only recently have I stumbled upon a type of kiss that she doesn't wipe off. It's a "cheeky kiss". If I want to give her a kiss, I have to announce first that my intention is a cheeky kiss. We then press our cheeks against one another's and wiggle our heads a bit. She will then tell me, "I'm going to keep your kiss ON!" Much better. A little unorthodox, but I'll take it.

  1. Zoe is a wonderful delight in our family. I have watched Zoe do the "wipe your kiss off" to her Daddy - and I have also seen her beautiful eyes get bigger and a little smile on her face following the event. I think its her way of making Daddy's kiss special - Its like the cherry on the whip cream - something she does just for Daddy so he knows that kissing her is has an extra event. Girls like to tease men they love the most - right ladies?

  5. Hey Woody, if it makes you feel any better, Andy has some of the same issues when it comes on "on the lips" kisses. He prefers to give kisses on the cheek. He will often intercept your face by grabbing your nose with one hand, and your chin with the other, and turn your face to the side so he can ensure cheek-placement control. :)
