Last Camping Trip

Last Camping Trip
Just got back from camping near Aspen. We camped at the Silver Queen campground about 3 miles away from the Maroon Bells (above). This small campground (only 6 sites) was in the middle of an aspen grove next to a river. If our site wasn't on a slant, it might have been one of our favorites.

The Maroon Bells are (from what I've heard) the most photographed mountains in the US. We were about 2-3 weeks too early from catching the above photo with gold aspens filling in where all the light green leaves are. Nonetheless, the view is simply amazing. Both Bells are 14ers, but I don't think I'll be climbing them anytime soon. They are Class 3 & 4 hikes which are gnarly.

It was a little sad thinking this was our last camping trip this summer. We made the most of it and you'll hear about it the rest of the week.
