Christmas Morning Hike

Christmas Morning Hike
In order to effectively prepare our bodies to receive a large Christmas Day dinner, we decided to venture out and attempt a hike in the snow. We drove to the HR Backcountry and tried to hike to a lookout. It was a little more taxing than I thought it would be. We only made it about 2/3 of the way before calling it quits, sipping hot chocolate and partaking in a huge snowball fight.

I'm going to take this time to recall a favorite Christmas memory of 2006.

It was Christmas eve morning and Tanya & I were sitting at the breakfast table with our brilliant niece, Lauren. She spotted our Children's Bible and offered to read us the Christmas story. Once we found Luke 2, she was off to the races. Mind you, she is in first grade. She powered through the story only stopping on words like Nazareth, Judea & Caesar Augustus. Tanya & I listened with our jaws dropped.

Prior to her commencing with the story, she was thumbing through the Old Testament making her way to the New. She hit Lamentations and saw a picture of one of the prophets writing on a scroll by candlelight. She noticed the large candle holder and said, "Look a menorah! He must be celebrating Kwanzaa or something!"
