We began our Friday with breakfast at the Egg & I. There are many Saturday mornings where I would like to go out for breakfast, but it never seems to happen. Both girls woke up at the same time and we made a group decision to head out. The Egg & I features a kids pancake...round with ears, grapes for eyes, glob of butter for a nose & a slice of bacon for a mouth.
With the new energy from our big breakfast, we tackled the nearby playground for a bit. The girls played & I read the newspaper in the cool, crisp morning air.
Friday night's main event was an Arapahoe High School football game. Our friend Jesse is one of the coaches. It was homecoming, so there was extra excitement in the air. The game was great. Megan & Zoe did well for the first few minutes...then the wiggles began and lil' Zoe just didn't want to sit still. That was fine and I could manage that. It was Megan's unfortunate situation that eventually caused us to leave at halftime.
The lady sitting next to me asked it was okay to give Megan some Skittles. I saw no harm and Megan was all smiles with her two grape Skittles. She ate the first one quickly and then decided to make the second one last. She sat there for minutes licking the tiny ball of sugar. Next thing I knew Megan's head was buried in her hands and the wet Skittle was on the ground by her feet. Megan inched over and buried her head in my lap and just cried as the realization hit home that there were no more Skittles. 20 minutes later she was still crying...at which point I remembered she had refused to take a nap that afternoon. Halftime arrived and the score was 0-0. With no end in sight for the crying, we packed up, made our way home and called it a day.
that's what happens to me when we run out of rice krispi treats!
ReplyDeleteThats so sad. I wonder if they have a "no skittles" sympathy card! Why didn't that lady give her more, and if she was out why didn't she run to the store to get some. She must NOT have been a Nana!
